SOCIAL CONCERNS / SOCIAL JUSTICE
MINISTRY LEAD: Jeanette Prince - 715-723-7262
MISSION: Our mission is help Holy Ghost families put their faith in action by providing opportunities to serve those in need—in our parish, in our community and in the world.
INFORMATION FOR THIS MINISTRY: We meet once a month to discuss areas in which we might be able to help the needy. We are currently working in these areas: Sojourner House, St. Francesca Resource Center and the Spirit of Christmas. We also add on other projects during the year.
• Volunteers are needed for the Sojourner’s House in Eau Claire. We provide a meal once a month. You would be assigned to a team.
• Volunteers are needed for help with our food drives for St. Francesca Resource Center. We also have volunteers who work on Tuesday when the center is open.
• Spirit of Christmas -- during the season of Advent we ask for help to help others in need to have a good Christmas. Donations are needed.
If you are interested in this ministry or would like more information, contact Jeanette at 715-723-7262 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks in advance for your generous support to this ministry.
Our Social Concerns Group was very busy in 2017 and could not have done it without the generous support of the parishioners!
January - Prolife - 9-day Novena prayer was handed out after the Masses.
Lent - Rice bowls collected for Catholic Relief Services
St. Francesca Resource Center - held 4 food drives in March, June, September, and December -- collecting about 400 bags of food and around $2000 in monetary donations; clothing and socks were also collected for the "Clothes Closet" along with coats for the giveaway in October. Eight HG parishioners volunteer their time at the Resource Center.
Sojourner's - we have 4 teams of 8-10 people who provide help for intake and prepare a meal every 4th Sunday of the month. Socks and personal care items are also collected for the guests.
May Basket - we provided 15 baskets that were given to the homebound.
Spirit of Christmas - collected mittens for the Friends of Jesus Program; provided presents for 10 Christmas angels; delivered gift bags to 15 homebound people; and collected gifts for the Spirit of Christmas Program of Chippewa County.
AWESOME WORK EVERYONE!
